REQUIRED.KSI Data File
(released May 1, 2000)
Keystone Systems has developed a new method of specifying required data fields within the ABS Scrap Transfer and Inventory Receipts functions.
This new method of data field validation is activated via the existence of the ASCII data file “REQUIRED.KSI.” This file, if present, must be in your home drive and directory \ABS\DATA. The “REQUIRED.KSI” file contains two groups of validation codes, replies, and descriptions
(one group for the Scrap Transfer function and another group for Inventory Receipts). For example:

To make a data field required, edit the REQUIRED.KSI file with any ASCII text editor
(i.e., Windows Notepad). Under the appropriate heading ([SCS] for the Scrap Transfer function, or
[INV] for the Inventory Receipts function), remove the asterisk (*) in position 1 from the desired field(s). Save the file and exit the editor program. Each item without an asterisk will be a required field in the corresponding program.
In the sample file shown above, “Purchase Order” was specified as a required field in both the Scrap Transfer and the Inventory Receipts functions. Each time either of these functions are activated, the program would check to see if a Purchase Order has been entered before exiting. If a Purchase Order has not been entered, a message will appear and the program will not continue until a Purchase Order is entered.
